13th April - Evaluation

I have completed my evaluation on my music magazine media coursework using a website called Prezi. I thought this site would be good to use because it has a 3D canvas so that the viewer can zoom to look closer at certain objects and it allows for path to be created so that the viewer can follow exactly where the information is.

13th April - Upload Magazine to Social Networking Site for Feedback

I uploaded each page of my music magazine to the social networking site Twitter so that people could reply or re-tweet with their thoughts on my work. Here are the tweets:

6th April - Time Plan Upon Completion

At the start of the process of creating my music magazine I created a time plan to ensure I kept up to date and completed all the tasks I needed. I left a column blank at the start so I could fill it out as  I went along and show what I did and when. Here is the time plan after I completed the magazine:

As a precursor to my evaluation I have decided to create a presentation to show the stages of my production for each page of my music magazine.

30th March - Complete Contents

This week I have completed my contents page, I faced a little difficulty concerning space. I didn't want it to look over crowded but I didn't want it to look empty either. After my design I thought I wanted to inlude an image of a male model as well as the model for the main article to give the impression of it being targeted at a multi-gender audience, but when I tried fitting it in it looked crowded. Therefore, I didn't use the image. I still think the magazine looks multi-gender due to the inclusion of male artist names on the cover and contents.

I have now completed the production of my music magazine! Perfectly on time too, just the evaluation left now!

30th March - Interview

This week I have planned the interview that I will use as the article. I have researched into other music magazines articles. Here is an article I found on NME's website:

"Arctic Monkeys' drummer Matt Helders has spoken about the band's plans for their new record and has revealed that they are keen to continue in the vein of recent single 'R U Mine?' and B-side 'Evil Twin'. 
Speaking to the Examiner, the drummer replied to a question about their new single by saying: "The way 'R U Mine?' has gone we are more into doing songs like that for now. We are kind of into the idea of doing a record that is like 'Evil Twin' and 'R U Mine?'." 
The band are currently in the middle of a lengthy stint across the USA and Canada as support to The Black Keys on their US arena tour and Helders also spoke about this, revealing that the band had been excited to appear as the opening act for the first time in their career. 
He said of this: "We've been looking for a tour like this since we started because we’ve never done a support tour, not in England, not anywhere. We were trying to think what the right band would be, and we had some good offers that didn’t work out timing wise from other bands. For this (tour) we thought it would be stupid to turn down. It’s a massive tour, and I think we’ve done as much as we could on our own without doing something like this."
The drummer also spoke about the band's new track 'Electricity', which is due out later this month as the B-side to 'R U Mine?', saying: "When we recorded 'Electricity' we recorded 'You & I' which was the B-side to 'Black Treacle' and (recorded) another one that didn’t really work out. It was a good song, but it didn’t fit in with 'R U Mine?' so 'Electricity' was the one that seemed to make more sense. It’s really the only thing we’ve got that nobody has heard yet that is already recorded."

I have decided I want to use the style used by Kerrang and write an interview for the main article as I think it looks more aesthetic to include questions, as it breaks up the block of writing.
I asked the model (my sister) to actually carry out the interview but in the character of Mila, the rock artist. Just like any journalist I had to plan my questions before the interview. I came up with more questions than I would need to ensure I had enough information for my article. Here is a list of questions I came up with, bearing in mind the situation.

Did you ever expect it?

Your debut album “Blue Eyes” went platinum just before the event. How did you feel when you found out about the scale of the records success?

I then interviewed my sister, with her acting as Mila. I recorded the interview so I could refer back to it and use her exact answers. Before shooting the interview I told her to adhere to the codes and conventions of magazines, such as she mustn't swear, her answers must sound like they were suitable for a female rock artist. I'm hoping that her answers will be suitable! If not I will alter them slightly before using it in my magazine.
